General Information for 2013 Honrado R. Fernandez Architectural Writing Competition

Welcome and thank you for your interest in the 2013 Honrado R. Fernandez Architectural Writing Competition! The competition is open to all undergraduate students of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Interior Design all over the Philippines as part of the Philippine International Arts Festival in February 2013 organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

This competition aims to encourage thoughtful writing about our designed environment as a means of fostering public discussion. In this way, perhaps, we may have a public more informed about the environments that they use but are designed by others for them and, consequently, more responsive designed environments in turn.

The prizes for this year’s competition are:

First Prize:       Twenty Five Thousand Pesos (P25,000.00)

Second Prize: Fifteen Thousand Pesos (P15,000.00)

Third Prize:     Ten Thousand Pesos (P10,000.00)

In addition, all three winners will receive especially handcrafted trophies designed after a prized sculptural work by the late Honrado R. Fernandez, architect and artist. Plus, the school in which the winners are enrolled will receive a Certificate of Appreciation from the NCCA.

The winning entries and a select few of those submitted will be exhibited in a public venue the whole month of February 2013 as part of the Philippine International Arts Festival.
